In their Words…….
With a history stretching back to its formation in 1894, Duns Golf Club offers its members a 21st century golfing experience. Initially, the course included what is now a field at the top of the present course however, the members soon realised that target practice from an adjoining rifle range made putting on the third green rather hazardous. Consequently, the top holes were closed and additional land was leased on the site of the present first and eighteenth holes.
In 1971 the club took the opportunity to purchase the land from Duns Castle Estate. In 1994 further land was acquired which allowed the course to be extended to a full 18 holes and the course as it is presently laid out was opened for play in 1997.
Widely admired for the outstanding quality of its golf course, the club is also known for the relaxed and sociable atmosphere of its clubhouse. Duns is a widely acclaimed golf course, matured over decades and designed sympathetically to blend in with the spectacular rolling landscape of the Scottish Borders.
Offering 18 glorious holes, this is a true golfers’ course – naturally beautiful and a pleasure to play. Its gentle contours, cultured fairways and true greens make it one of southern Scotland’s outstanding golf destinations.
The clubhouse lounge is bright and relaxed, overlooking the 18th green. There is a bar and a pleasant, sunny restaurant. The club has modern changing facilities and well-maintained practice grounds.Duns Golf Club
