Location and Route Planning

In their Words…….

Situated on high ground, just above the conservation village of Eaglesham, Bonnyton Golf Club offers spectacular views across the beautiful Scottish countryside as far as snow-capped Ben Lomond, the Campsies and beyond. The course is surrounded by dramatic, rolling, heather-covered moorland and has been landscaped to combine the relaxing pastoral feel of mature woodland with the drama of its natural surroundings.

The rugged moorland above the village may not appear to have anything in common with the humid wetlands of Georgia but they are linked by the vision of one man, the ‘Course Doctor’, Alister MacKenzie, the English-born Scottish course architect whose career spanned 27 years and included some of the most iconic courses in the UK, America and Australia such as Augusta National, home of the US Masters Championship.

MacKenzie was originally engaged in 1922 to lay out an 18-hole course on Bonnyton Moor for the Lindsay family who were publicans in Glasgow.
