In their Words…….
Aberdour Golf Club in Fife was voted the fourth best golfing experience in Scotland by the readers of Bunkered magazine. This private members golf course has breathtaking vistas looking over the River Forth across to Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat.
Aberdour Golf Course is a wonderful par 67 course that is an enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities. After a tight beginning it lengthens out allowing some room for a slice but with reward to those straight and long. A number of holes run along the shore of the River Forth with views across the Forth to Edinburgh and beyond.
Particularly unusual is the start of two par ‘3’s, they may be short but they are far from straightforward. This beautiful 18 hole parkland golf course, established in 1896, has hosted the Scottish Under 14’s Championship, the LGU Ladies Coronation Foursomes Area Final, the Roselle Pro-Am, Barnardo’s Scotland Charity Golf Days and a host of other large corporate and charity events.
The golf course is situated 45 minutes from St Andrews, half an hour from Edinburgh Airport, 50 minutes from Glasgow and has its own bus and rail link to all these destinations.
The fantastic facilities include the Riverview Lounge (with panoramic views) and a host of other features for members, golf outings and casual visitors. The clubhouse stands on a prominent position overlooking the River Forth and Edinburgh in the distance. There are excellent views of the famous first hole and both the dining room and bar have panoramic views downriver towards Gullane and the Bass Rock and upriver towards the Abbey on Inchcolm and the Forth bridges.
