Location and Route Planning

In their Words…….

The North East of Scotland is renowned for its rugged beauty and the course at Royal Tarlair is no exception. Situated in the town of Macduff, the course commands panoramic views of the coastline with the village of Pennan made famous by the film “Local Hero” only a few miles from the clubhouse.

‘Royal’ Tarlair, Tuesday 8th June 1926 “H.R.H the Princess Royal has shown such a gracious and sympathetic interest in the Club and the new course that she has readily agreed to its having the word “Royal” included in its official designation. Louise Princess Royal Henceforth, therefore the course will be known as that of Royal Tarlair Golf Club and will take its place among the select company of courses in the country that have such a privilege”.

A cliff top parkland course which certainly presents a challenge for the more serious golfer, and offers enjoyable golf in an ideal setting for the not so serious. Do not miss the 13th hole, the “Clivet”, a hole that every golfer just has to experience.

This exhilarating hole offers the golfer the opportunity to test their nerve and resolve to the limit as well as providing a scenic hole which will remain with you for years to come.

A warm welcome awaits all visitors to Royal Tarlair and all we ask of you is to enjoy your golf while here.

A true hidden Scottish links gem. Played this course on the 12th of July in glorious conditions for links golf. Having... played some of the highest rated links golf courses in Scotland, the layout of this course is up there amoungst them; at a fraction of the cost! Greens were immaculate, staff friendly. Disagree with anyone saying this is a parkland course, you only have to play the 4th and 13th to appreciate how truly links-y it is. Cannot wait to return and play againread more

Love the course, well maintained and friendly members. 13th hole worth the visit alone. Rest of course open and not too... challenging on a calm day, but that's rarely the case, the weather can make this a really difficult round!read more
