In their Words…….
Inverurie Golf Club was formed on the 16 January 1923. A public meeting was held in the Market Hall that was ‘filled with a large and representative number of enthusiastic golfers numbering nearly 100’. At this meeting it was explained ‘that after negotiations, the Town Council had purchased the farm of Upper Boat (for about £4000) and the Kellands . . . and thus made it possible sufficient ground for the laying out of a golf course’.
A friendly members club with more than 650 golfing members. The clubhouse is attractively designed on two levels with a very pleasant outdoor veranda overlooking the first and eighteenth holes. We extend a warm welcome to visitors whether it is corporate events or golf outings for whom a rewarding golfing experience and day-out is on offer.
The course, 5564yards, par 69, features an initial gently undulating opening nine holes followed by a more testing and tight finish with broom, gorse and tree-lined mature woodland. This presents a fair challenge to players of all standards who also enjoy natural attractions such as roe deer, woodpeckers and buzzards. The experience is enhanced by some panoramic views especially towards the east – taking in Uryside, Keithhall Estate ( the ancestral home of the Earl of Kintore ), and the ever expanding community of Inverurie.
The nineteenth at Inverurie offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where you can round of your day with a quality meal and drink. Check out the history of the club and chill out on the veranda with a small refreshment and discuss possible reasons why the course presented a slightly more difficult challenge than you anticipated!.
