I visited the area over a year ago and wanted to play it then but was unable to.I was excited to be able to book on this years visit and it didn't disappoint. The grounds were immaculate, the greens in great condition and all the staff were helpful and friendly. For me it was the perfect day golfing, especially as it turned out to be my PB!Unfortunately my golf App immediately dropped me from a 27.1 to a 20.5 handicap!!The bar, beer and food afterwards just topped off a great day! Thanks.

Went here for lunch on Sunday 19th, and was seated by a welcoming blonde haired server. After looking over the menu, which had fantastic choice, a different server came to take our food order. The blue haired server was welcoming at this time, and we were told to order drinks at the bar. While at the bar we were asked if we were members, which we aren’t but up until this point was never asked. After that point, the atmosphere changed. We heard the blue hired server complain to the kitchen staff that we weren’t members. The best part of the experience was the meal, fantastic food and couldn’t fault this at all. However, as soon as we finished our meal, the blue haired server was back to take our plates away and then came back with the bill straight away, after we’d viewed other customers sit leisurely after finishing their meal.I understand we’re not member, but we weren’t made aware of this when we were seated, but regardless we were still paying customers. Fantastic food but severely let down by the blue haired server.

Reasonable selection for a small pro shop and club.Unfortunately DHR holds a less than enviable reputation for snobbery, certainly several members display a standoffish attitude. The course itself is in fair condition, mostly, and enjoyable.

Beautiful course let down by a frosty “welcome” at the clubhouse. Checked in at pro shop and asked would it be ok to get a quick bite to eat in the clubhouse before teeing off. No problem just go around the front and press the buzzer. On the third buzz a young lady appeared and said it’s a members only club and wasn’t open to visitors. This was after I explained we had a tee off time in half an hour. The penny finally dropped and we were let in. On being seated this lady continued in a rude and off hand manner. Honestly I was aghast at such poor customer service. Took the edge off our round.

Course was in great condition and is an intruiging challenge: difficult finish from 13th to 17th holes.

Great place to visit any time... You can wander round the beautiful house, then enjoy a walk to the Bridge of Alvah with its beautiful views, then if your feeling extra energetic continue the walk which takes you to Montcoffer and back to Banff.

Lovely course. Windy and wet but still enjoyable. Slightly late in the season so greens were not the best quality as had been cored recently. Very much worth a visit but better earlier in the season.

First time I ever played here. Can honestly say this is the nicest course I've ever played. No fannying about in gorse and heavy rough. If you go off the fairway it's still tough enough without the frustration of titting about looking for balls. The greenkeeping staff are very forward thinking. More courses should be like this. Facilities beautiful and staff all really nice and welcoming. Will definitely return again next time I'm up in Scotland. Thanks for a fabulous day out.

In their Words…….

Set in the coastal town of Banff and less than one mile from the sea, Duff House Royal Golf Club offers members and visitors alike a truly memorable golfing experience on a fantastic parkland course that offers a fair challenge for golfers of all abilities.

The original Duff House Golf Club was formally constituted on 1st March 1910. The brilliant Golf Architect Dr. Alister Mackenzie (who later went on to design the World famous “Augusta National”) redesigned the course in 1923, finishing the project in 1924.

The course is a flat, beautifully manicured parkland course with little rough. The large “Mackenzie” two-tiered greens, many well positioned bunkers and trees make the course a severe but fair challenge to golfers of all abilities. The Course is bounded by the River Deveron, which proves to be a hazard for those who wander off the tee at the 7th, 16th and 17th holes.

In addition to an outstanding golf course we have excellent facilities for our members and visiting guests, our clubhouse boasts a large seating area overlooking the first and eighteenth holes where you can simply relax and enjoy the views of those commencing or completing their rounds.

The clubhouse has a large comfortable bar and lounge area, offering commanding views over the first and eighteenth holes with the Hill of Doune and the River Deveron as a backdrop.
